Oh the good or route 2. That's not uncommon I've rode about 10 miles of it from the foothill side and you can and will get passed by leathered up road racers doing triple digit speeds quite often. That and packs of gold wings cruising the entire 60 some mile run to the other side of the national forest.

Close call.
Reminds me of the anecdote in
Proficient Motorcycling
about the guy who got decapitated.
PS, if you haven't read it, do yourself a favor - especially if you're a newer rider.

WOW!! I've come close to getting killed when it was my fault, but when someone else comes that close I generally get angry. And That was close.
Anyone care to guess what the closing speed was?
I could barely even see the oncoming till Lucky Boy was dodging.

That is one reason I tend not to ride too close to the centerline when going around corners. Bikes, car and motorhomes often drift over the centerline...and you need to be ready to give them some room.
It is not all that uncommon on the Tail of the Dragon to have somebody drifting over into your lane. If you can't see around the corner...stay away from the centerline.

Always plan for the worst case scenario while riding. It may save your life!

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
