Left raptor petcock on for a day
04/03/15 at 11:38:52

Well I messed up I left my petcock on for about a day. I didn't know and drove it to where I keep at my aunts about 150 yards away. What should I check to make sure nothing is screwed up. I took the airfilter out and going to change the oil. anything else I need to do?

For some reason, the carb float valve didn't stop the fuel flow. Y need to find out why.
I'd probably dump the oil, because it is cheap.
I wouldn't start it till I was comfortable that gas had not gotten to the oil.
If that's a K AND N , you Know how to do that, but I kept a stock filter handy, so I could ride when the K AND N was drying.

Dang I was kinda of afraid of that but the carb has been working great. I did notice my throttle has been a little loose. could the throttle not closing all the way let this happen as well?

I wouldn't woory about changing the oil. With the Rapter valve there is no path for fuel to flood the cylinder. Looks like you have a stuck float. It could clear itself from the vibration of a started engine. Keep an eye on it before tearing it all apart.

If you say so.. but I say at least check the oil level.  If it is HIGH, then you may have gas in the crankcase.  And open the fill and get a good whiff of it too.  If you smell gasoline, I would change it.
Why do I say this?  I have a raptor petcock.  I had the float seat o-ring fail.  I had a bunch of gas in the airbox AND in the crank case.  I got lucky and got it all out before it caused any damage.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

If the fuel is coming from the bowl vent, then the fuel isn't making it to the body of the carb. If the fuel is coming from the air box went then it has made its way into the body of the carb.

ok. I drained the oil and their was a hint of gas smell.I put about 3 1/2 quarts of rotella oil but none of it drained out. How can I flush the oil? do i just need to keep adding more oil till it comes out the drain port. their was also still a little bit of gas at the bottom of the filter box.

3 1/2 quarts is way too much... Shocked...
2.2 quarts for an oil change...

Drain it all out, and start over...

You didn't hurt anything with the overfilling. Just drain it out and put 2 quarts back in. That stock air filter is most likely ruined, so buy another one before you ride it again. I usually order 4 oil filters and 2 air filters at a time from the internet to make the shipping worthwhile, as nobody local carries them regularly. I could buy the o.e.m. Suzuki filters, but, why pay dealership prices for repackaged Emgo filters?

When I was working the bike shop in WA, ALL the local dealers would buy Emgo filters from us for their service bays. They would keep empty factory packages around, stuff an Emgo unit in them, and sell them for a $5-10 per unit markup. Emgo makes most of the factory filters anyway, so, if you pay factory authorized prices, you are paying for a name on a piece of cardboard. Savage filter from Emgo runs $3.95-5.95 oil, $12.95 air...
