Installing new foot pegs.....

Hey Everyone!
So I finally decided to upgrade from stock front pegs on my 06 S40
I ordered a pair of DZ Custom pegs and man they look sweet!
When I was installing them I put the spacer on the back of the peg and slide them in place, but after i tightened the bolt down they still have some play. Are they supposed to sit tight with no movement? It doesn't sag down but I can pull it up a little bit.
I only had time to do the right side.
But on a side note. The bolt on the left side peg is sunken in and stripped...any advice for getting that one out would be verry much appreciated too!

I doubt they're a perfect fit. pegs are supposed to flex up I assume you mean the allen socket is striped, good luck. do apply some pen oil on the threads visible on the other side.

Chisel tip on an air hammer, or weld a junk socket to the stripped bolt

Clean, grind to fit a larger Allen wrench, cut it off so a socket or wrench, JB weld into ,, fill in the blanks, do the math.

FWIW, I repaired the sealing surface on a frack pump with JB Weld.
It survived the job and then we pulled the fluid end off of the pump and sent it to the machine shop..

If it had failed, we had NO Backup. I can't imagine the consequences.
AND, where I worked was so political and, shocking as it may seem, I wasn't the most popular guy there, and Somehow, the fact that I was the only one who even thought about it. They were just gonna lose the job to a competitor or something, I dunno, but nobody ever even said good job.

I Was real nervous that if I put too much it would overflow and go around the screw (since its sunken in) so I hope I used enough. Does anyone know the part # for that footpeg screw? Or something I could use to replace it with? That would be really helpful. Thanks!

Very careful application of oil or ANYTHING glue doesn't stick to in places we don't want it sticking,, Clean and dry where we do.
I keep Orange sticks (think manicure) handy, cotton balls, grind sticks to shape, there are no rules. I have syringes and needles, I'll get oil where it's needed.
Get penetrating oil on any threads that you can. Once you start moving the bolt, if it's fighting, oil, soak, screw in, back out, as long as it's fighting, play it. Friction makes heat, be easy.
I put a drop light in next to the job..

A little heat helps it cure hard.
Suzuki didn't order bolts designed for the bike.
They are available everywhere.
Pay triple , dealership.
Pay double, hardware store
Pay fair, industrial threaded connectors supply.
I bought a three foot long stainless 3/8ths for under five bucks..

Reply #7 - 04/04/15 at 09:14:15 now jog, that's a special bolt .BOLT, RUBBER 09106-06100 $3.24 I don't understand why you ask for the part number, any oem distributor will have a fish to find the part.

Shim stock is the ONLY way to get Savage pegs slop free. Period. You want them to fold up, but have zero fore-aft movement, or the bolt hole will get hogged out making your ride insufferable. Trust me, I used cut down 1998 peg ends/cores to adapt Harley Panhead half moon floorboards to a 2003 Savage... some kind of sloppy. I actually need to through drill the mounts, through bolt them AND use bronze bushings to finish them up properly... The bolts (standard Grade 2 generic junk) are harder then the mounts or the peg cores. Angry
