tiny brass rod

After installing my verslagy, I noticed a tiny brass rod sticking out of the crankcase above the clutch pack and below the speedo connection, right next to the gasket. ???
Also, with the verslagy in the new hole, chain slack is minimal/tight. Any problems here? Cool

I believe you are talking about a piece that is a metering device for the flow to top end....the oil that goes up to the camshaft and rockers.  It is located in that section of gasket at the top that has a double wall passage.  (You aren't talking about any loose parts are you?)

no loose parts, hard to see, but looks like a tiny hole in the side. don't see it mentioned anywhere on forums. caught me by surprise.

I think that's the cross over to the clutch pack bearings.
you won't have any problems if you leave it alone like most people.

if you let the spring take out the slack, no problem.
if you forced it by means other than your bare hand, push in the pawl and let the tension off.
