Bike won't turn off!!
03/30/15 at 16:17:45
Its one thing after another first I couldnt get the darn thing to start and now she doesn't want to turn off. I was driving to work and when I turned the key to the off position and removed the key the bikes lights were still on. I thought I had accidentally put in park. However it was in the off position. I even tested to see if I could start the engine, and sure enough the bike started up without the key in it!! The only way to get the bike to shut off is to detach one of the wires from the positive or negative terminals. I did some research and I think it may be a faulty ignition. Any suggestions? Does that mean I gotta buy a whole new key ignition, key and all to fix this?! Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah, sounds like an ignition switch issue. They're not too expensive. I just got one on eBay for my FZ6. The I got the switch, helmet holder assembly and two keys for $50.

Before I bought a new ign switch, I'd check to make sure that there weren't any wires shorted together.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Any wires shorted together? I did just replace the turning signals. However I don't think that'll do it. Ill have to look at. Where should I look? What wires would cause the bike to stay on? Its weird because I was literally driven it a few hours before with no problem and then all of a sudden when I goto work it just happened. I did find a a good deal for an ignition switch on J&P Cycles but before I start putting in money Id like to exhaust all options.

I'd pull the ig switch to see what the problem is.

Check the wiring diagram. The ignition switch should be easy to test. Pull the plug from the harness and test it.
