If you live near an airport use 100LL gas when possible in you bike.  It takes years to go stale and of course is 100 octane with a lean mixture setting, 130 when rich.

While I do use 100LL for the winter storage....it is a bit of overkill for a bike that runs just fine on regular, and when out on the road it is not possible.

100LL is not the perfect fuel ,and in fact  it is not 100 octain its close to 95 if it was rated using the mogas formula. it also burns slower and will make the bike run leaner i always add about 20 % boat gas .
also LL or Low Lead is a misnomer it is actually very high in lead content used as a way increase octain and cushion some old stile valves.
the downside is it will cause lead fouling so a ounce or so of alcor TCP per tank helps scavenge the lead . than you have the perfect witches brew.
always carry a spare plug as it will always foul at the wrong time.
due to the plug location  and a lean running bike i am thinking it might not be the perfect fuel for the savage .
i have had a few thumper bikes BSA 441 and a Triumph but my old legs could not work the kick starter anymore . these bikes loved 100LL but had easy acess to the plug .i love the starter pushbutton  Smiley

You guys are throwing me off. 100 octane?  In a bike with 8.5:1 compression?  A little overkill I think.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
