WOW, that one would take a couple of oil changes and tire changes too!

It would definitely take that. But, I think it would be a fun ride.

13,699 miles or 22,046 km. You would definitely get the break in period on your bike though.

Edited to add in km.

My wife and I discussed doing this on the Goldwing and staying in hotels. It would not happen on the savage.

One of the fella's on the Ninja 300 forum talked Kawasaki into doing a test ride on it from new York to California to do a gas mileage comparison and total system shake down.... it was supposed to take him 2-3 weeks....
He ended up hitting a deer along the way and broke a wrist, he took two months leave while having the motorcycle repaired and flew back when they got it fixed and finished his ride, was a great story.
He actually averaged about 65mpg as the company stated 65-70mpg. I have never gotten over 62 or 64mpg... more often that not I run between 58 and 62mpg.

Here is a link to our map trip we did on the Road Glide back in 2010, its on map quest so i'm not sure how it will pop up.

http://mapq.st/1EQdJQ8

Our trip deviated a bit from that course because we saw signs for interesting things, that's how we stopped in Helena.

We had a blast.... hope we can do it again someday...
We had planned on going to illinios, then Kansas, then see the devils tower, then Yosemite, then Yellowstone, then salt lake, then the grand canyon, then where the little green guys landed in the 50's and then back home....why did we not do it and go the other way?.... we had the time and funds...and....the west was having really bad thunderstorms....LOL...we got wet anyway!
