Today's Youth

Today's Youth

TRUE Happing, Very sad, But also very funny:

Recently flying into Phoenix AZ, Took the shuttle to Prescott AZ.
Sat in the back, and a young girl sat next to me.
She was 23 years old, and a Sophomore at the Yavapai College in Prescott AZ.
In the 2 + hour drive, we talked about many things.

About 15-20 min left of the ride, she mentioned, a, ‘Female Professor’, gave her a, “Female, Bill of Rights".
Which she recited, (and was basically, from a 239 year old document, with of course, several Ultra-Liberal, changes).
I asked her: “Do you think that some of those things, came from the Constitution, and the original ‘Bill of Rights” ?

She said:   “The What”.
I said: “The Constitution of the United Stated of America, and the Bill of Rights”
She said, (again), “The What”.

(At that point, a lady sitting in front of us, about 40 +/-, turned around, and just, EXPLODED on her)

23 years old, a Sophomore in Collage, A Graduate of a High School somewhere in NY.   (She did not say where)

Does NOT, know !!!!!!

Exactly, WHO, is teaching these young people, and WHAT are they teaching?

They don't seem to care. We live in different countries , but there was a general election in New Zealand late last year. No guessing which age group had the lowest rate of enrolments, at least in the electorate I live in. Twenty four per cent of people couldn't be bothered to vote, given the quality of politicians, can you blame them? New Zealand was the first country in the world to give adult male voting rights in about 1858, could be wrong here, and definitely the first to give women the vote in 1893. Although I think Wyoming beat us for state or provincial elections. The late great sufferagettes in all countries would turn in their graves to hear this young woman. However I guess that's life.

Runwyrlph,

Europe is a continent.  There are several countries on the European continent.

http://europe.theworldatlas.net/countries.html

This map will show you the extents of Europe and the countries within.

Not a stupid question at all.  Stuff like this isn't, and hasn't been taught in a while.  Also, you made a statement, not ask a question.  Just picking a little.  Grin

To be honest,.. When I was young, I could care less about history or politics... Too busy having fun...
It wasn't 'till I got into my mid 20's that I started to find the workings of the world interesting...
Since then, I've been a fairly avid history buff...

So,... there's time...
There's worse things than enjoying your youth...
Wink...

Like I tell people all the time...

College doesn't make you smart and professional just means you get paid for it. It doesn't mean you're good at it.

I've said it many a time and I'll say it again, education does not make you smart, it just makes you 'educated' or an unreasonable facsimile thereof
