Me again... what size are the rear fender bolts?
02/12/15 at 19:05:03

What length and thread size, button head bolts do I get to replace the rear fender bolts when I install the new 140/90 15 rear tire please?

So it doesn't rub on the bolt heads?  Couldn't find it in the tech section.

Thanks.

I don't know.. I DO know that if I was gonna change them I would pull one and take it to the nut and bolt shop and get what I need.

I'm pretty sure this is correct.  M8-1.25 x 25 for the short ones.  The longer ones it depends on if you have the side rails that support the sissy bar.  They will be M8-1.25 x 40 or 45.

Best regards,

FYI... the 140/90-15 won't necessarily rub. I have no issues with Perelli MT66's in that size and stock shocks.

Never had issues with the previous 140/90 15 Continental Blitz or the Michelin ,what ever it is I'm running now. Stock shocks have been set from position 2 relatively soft to position 5 max hardness As far as I'm aware the bolts haven't changed since I brought it new.

My tire is a Shinko, and I have saddlebag braces, otherwise it might be fine

OK, I replaced them all with black oxide button heads.  The short ones I took out were only 18mm long, not 25.  The long ones with the acorn nuts were 35mm not 40.  But the 25 and 40 tightened up fine and easier to handle.

Fastenal had them.   About $8 anyway for 6 of each including an allen wrench I didn't use.

You will be VERY happy if you have one of those mini ratchet wrenches that takes the screwdriver bits and a couple allen driver bits to fit the button head.  VERY HAPPY.  The acorn nut was 12mm.

It is simple and moderately easy unless the previous owner stripped out one of the holes and you have to take off the whole unit to discover that.

REMOVE THE SEAT FIRST was easier.

Thanks for all the advise.  It helped.
