ok...there's all kind of differences between what's actually on my bike and the diagrams but it's not worrying me thers just a couple of things I don't understand.

there have only ever been two wires coming out of the back of my brake light and only one light bulb. ok fine, one of the wires is ground and the other is power.. well where does the extra brightness come in? because normally the light is on all of the time and just gets brighter when I activate either the front brake light switch or the rear brake light switch. so i guess im asking how do i wire that up.?

also, what is that reddish wax-fabric coated type wire with the connector on it coming off my starter relay suppost to go? neither diagram specifies its use.

Functionally, you have 2 lights (1 light bulb)
a brake light and a running light.
most aftermarket lights are made for Harley
which uses the frame as the 3rd wire for ground.

If you take the lens off that light and confirm that the light and socket actually is a dual filament bulb - then...the red wire is most likely the stop (bright) light, and the black is most likely the running (dim), light, and the ground is provided by the light being bolted to the frame.  It would be best to run a ground wire to the bolt and tighten it with the nut.

you should have a similar looking wire coming out of the harness up by the decomp controller.
