Then there is the cheap approach. OSPHO, dilute phosphoric acid, it literally transforms rust from iron oxide to iron phosphate. Costs less than$8.00 a quart at Kelly Moore. A recent name change, but I would expect them to be able to get it in your hands even if you call it Ospho, and describe its function. I kept my header alive after I sliced the thing into three pieces in order to remove the inner pipe. Where it was welded together wanted to rust, but it stayed nice enough that when I sold it,15,000 miles and 8 years later the buyer never even mentioned the condition of the header. I keep a quart of Ospho in the paint department, always. A quart lasts for years. Don't get the gel. Works on chrome, a brass brush to get the stain, then a wipe with Ospho, let it work, rinse, dry. Or, just wipe it on and forget about it, I've done that, too.
Orr, you Could go down to the muffler shop and get a piece just the diameter you want, bent, and the fat end to"plug the jug" and crush the seal, get it mounted, install the muffler, prove it makes torque, will allow you to jet and run it,, and send That off for coating. Or chrome, or whatever suits ya,,,
