on my rebel forum the consensus is that the Blast is a POS, based on the opinion of some MSF instructors on the site that had them as 'loaner bikes' for the BRC (the bikes of choice for that seen to be the Rebel and the Ninja 250)
Basically HD forced Eric to make these so they'd have 'beginner bikes' to use in their own BRC courses, which included pressure tactics to get you to buy a Hog, of course, and he did it under protest, and put as much thought into it as you would expect someone to who was being pushed into it

You fellows down south are fortunate in the price for a used Suzuki S40. Last spring my older brother wanted to buy one. The cheapest we saw was around $4000 used and it was pretty clapped out.
I found the same thing this fall. $4300 for a 2009. New out the door was $5900 Canadian which equals $4956 U.S. Harleys and Sport bikes depreciate real quick here but any dual sport, Savage/S40, Yamaha XT500's or old British bikes like Vincents or Nortons hold their price well.

If you can find a fair deal then you can justify a bus down and a ride home.
Adventure vacation..

Yea.....and you would have the added adventure of figuring out how to get the bike back across the border and titled in Canada!

My daughter is finding out about importing a car. She had lived in California for 14 years and just moved back. She brought her 2005 Crown Vic back with her as it is in perfect condition, she bought it new in California.
Nothing but bureacratic hassle from the government. Crown Vics were all made in Canada
The world would run a lot smoother with 1/2 the government layed off.

Well I bought the savage today. I paid 1450 otd, so about $1200 before tax, reg, etc. . While not the best price, I can't complain about getting a great running bike for such little money. Not having to go to the dmv was also a plus. I didn't here any chatter from the cam chain and the motor sounded really smooth. There was oil on the fins, so the head plug is a must. I will be doing the tensioner as well. Very clean bike, you couldn't tell it was a 96. I'm happy to join the savage community!
