Headlight mischief

does anyone have a good pic of how the back of this goes together? all my screws r in an empty oil pan, all non-specific 'n sh!t. I thought I remember the outside metal thingy screwing into the headlight part via those two black rubber dealies (washers stuck in there) but the way I have it here they don't line up.

Whenever you get confused about how things go together.....go to any online parts supplier and look up the parts diagram for that piece.  It details exactly how everything goes together.

It looks like the piece is supposed to have nuts attached to the frame.....and the ones on your frame are gone!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/87-SUZUKI-LS650-LS-650-SAVAGE-HEADLIGHT-HEAD-LIGHT-RI...

Since the parts list does not show them - I suspect they were spot welded to the frame and are not supposed to come off.

thats a sweet pic of it. i got it together ok i think. that diagram really helped. i guess the only thing with the headlight I'm not sure about yet is if I used the correct screws to put the assembly into its plastic casing. it looks like you're supposed to use two different length screws,, which i did, i thought I remembered using two identical screws.

Thnx Versy. im srry i dnt have ur tins cleared yet. im actually in process of trying to work out some sort of deal with a shop. I had to sell most of my auto refinishing & leatherwork stuff to keep afloat. i havent painted in a long time, so it's probably better by now a real professional clear it.

oh and does the ignition coil need to be spaced certain distance from the frame? or are these posts actually grounding it to the frame..no that can't be right it doesn't show that it's grounded in the wiring diagram. no that can't be right because the spark plugs got to be ground.
