Any takers?

I read this on a 'life hacks' website about ways to combat winter cold. etc.

"Lastly, you don't have to let the snow or ice stop you from riding your bike this winter. To add a little traction to your two-wheeler, place zip ties at even intervals around each tire. It's that simple".

Any of you folks up north wanna give it a try?

I suppose the zip ties might help you get some forward momentum going.....but what it gonna' help to keep the bike from sliding out from under you in the corners?

Ya need spikes!

That's crazy!

What I like about your video is that the competitor stopped to help the guy that wrecked.

I'm thinking if I was in ice bike races, I would be wearing armor.....no, really!!!  ..... ARMOR..... 1/4" thick plate steel would work...
LOL, but i'd really have to muscle up... Cheesy

Wow
Sliding into your bike after falling could hurt !  Shocked    Especially if it was still running in gear !!!!

I had STUDDED snow tires on a Datsun B-110 for a winter.   It would wheelie befor it would spin (on ICE) , and they were only 1/4" spikes.  Riding on a wet road with no ice felt slippery. Wink

I have watched the FIM Ice Gladiators competition on the MAV channel.  They are a very rugged bunch of fellows, and the racing often occurs at 10 degrees below zero!

And if you notice, they do walk and move a bit weird....they are loaded down with armor and padding.  I have seen them suiting up and they have chain mail on their torso, and their gloves have Armadillo style plates on the front of them.
