You are indeed right, a worthy read, but a very sad commentary in the demise of freedom, as the cost of freedom.......

In the scope of shear numbers, these factions are but a fraction of the total civilized population.
However, thinking how could one person name Hitler, just a single man, be the catalyst for such destruction and hate....
And too, I think of those who think in "gray" refusing to see things as black and white....as if absolutes are somehow wrong and the reason for hate.....
But those who do hate, based on beliefs, are "absolutely" convinced they are superior in beliefs and justified in any action to sustain it, and even promote it......

Freedom is on the radar screen, I saw where France voted today to put restriction on theirs, only one vote in opposition....

As if this is the fix......

A lot of people - perhaps most people - are terrified of freedom. Freedom means that they alone are responsible for their actions and the consequences of those actions. They can't hide behind an ideology, a religion, a Prophet, whatever, or pretend that they are acting "in the name of","for the glory of" etc.  That's how this happens, over and over, and will continue to happen. There is really nothing new about any of this.

In another generation there will hardly be a person left alive in the United States (or pretty much anywhere else, for that matter) who remembers, or has ever known, what it was like to live in a truly free country.

You have got to be kidding.

So you are a Christen,  A Catholic,  And you see a very graphic,  even, ’pornographic’.
Cartoon, of the Pope.   Ya gonna Shoot Someone ?
I don’t think Anyone, even a band of, the Knights Templar, (which many say still exist)
Would, SHOOT someone !

Lets say a similar cartoon was published about, Joseph Smith,
Not even a, "Avenging Angel”,  (Which even Many Mormons, say still exist)
Would go out and  SHOOT someone !

Now would  those people, make comments, about that.
Most very likely.

Even the Irish Catholics and the British Protestants,
have stopped KILLING people !

Don’t care how, distasteful, the CHARLIE HEBDO cartoons are.
(In some peoples minds)
I find them extremal timely and funny!

Lets see: A Priest and a Rabi, were sitting on a park bench.
a 12 your old boy walks by.
The Priest says:  “Wouldn’t you want to F*** that”
The Rabi says:  “Out of what ?”

So now, a Catholic, or Jew is going to SHOOT me now ?????
... Methinks... NOT. ...

Quote:
... which proves my point exactly... that there is a fine line between "Freedom" and "Offensive" ...

Their are many people that find the NUDE Statue of David, "Offensive".
Who should decide, WHERE that line is? Or even if their should be a line.

Hi MNSpring,

please bear in mind I posted those cartoons non because I support them (I obviously do not) nor to justify the assassination of the cartooninsts (I obviously do not) but merely to show you the kind of fuel that was thrown on a very radical fire.

I (meaning "Europe" have a history of Reformation, CounterReformation and Inquisition, and Socialist Revolutions, all three of which have generated such a high number of deaths we now invoke freedom of speech as a fundamental human right.

In arabic countries such freedom of speech has never existed, not ever from the very times of King Jugurtha onwards.
Hence the moral justification - from an arabic point of view - to the assassination.

In the US there is a stout defense of human rights - your Constitution is one of the oldest in the world - but also a persecution of human rights when these provoke or are in contradiction with the ethical or religious beliefs of the so-called "silent majority" - which is an oxymoron: it is always a very loudmouthed noisy minority which rises to defend a silent majority which actually couldn't care less !

These two pics may perhaps refresh your memory:

The Good Ol. Boys, known for their tolerance and flexibility;

Other even Better Ol' Boys, known for their love of their neighbor.

So... Im not throwing anything on anybody's fire; I'm just saying that you can't go about baah-baahing like Mary's Little lamb, when bad mad wolves are loose, on the grounds you have a divine right to Baah-Baah...

...and axpect to get away with it...

I think mpes comments are typical of arrogant, but emasculated Europeans who've been under the cloud of political correctness so long, they've lost their moral compass. Any variation of the phrase "the paper asked for it" is evidence of Europe's in pending doom. This Muslim situation is only going to get worse.

Let’s see:

Mussolini’s ‘power’, was stopped, because Why?
Was their some Italians, who, Spoke Out !  And did NOT  run away afraid?

The KKK’s, power, was, stopped, because Why?
Was their some black skinned people, who Spoke Out ! And did not run away afraid?

Quote:
“ … I’m just saying that you can’t go about baah-baahing like Mary’s Little lamb, when bad mad wolves are loose,…”

So, the, ‘correct’, thing is to, ‘Run Away, and Shut Up”  ???
Because their are, ‘Bad Wolves’, about?

Photos of  groups of people, ‘protesting’ with signs.
Or looting, or setting fires, or rioting.
One can find them all over in the US. and Most every other, Free Country.
EVEN in  Italy.

Now, someone stands in the street, (in the US), and burns a US Flag, in a, ‘protest’.
Which is their right to do so. A right given to them, by the very Constitution the Flag, (they are burning), represents.
I think, that is rather silly. But, it’s their right.

And yes, their have been some, ‘attempts’, to make their point with violence.
But when that happened. When it turned, ‘Violent’ ?
It was summarily dealt with.

Let’s say, someone drives a red Motorcycle, And a, ‘group’, does Not like red MC’s.
That, ‘group’, then, ’Threatens’ violence.  But people are still driving red MC’s.
Than that, ‘group’, fire bombs, some, red, MC’s. Yet people still are driving red MC’s.
Now that, ‘group’, KILLS some people driving red MC’s.

Is the answer, to get rid of all ‘red’ MC’s.
Or is it something else ????

I agree 110%.

And the 'political correctness',
(Or what I call it,  "Azz Kissing".)

In this Country, is getting worse and worse!

Choice is simple. Turn on the TV, and order more Pizza.
OR
Communicate, with the people, YOU HIRE AND PAY !

It's called "appeasement" (the policy of granting concessions to potential enemies in order to maintain peace)

It didn't work out very well for the Europeans in the 1930's and it isn't going to work any better this time around. Unfortunately the United States is infected with the same disease. " Don't annoy the Muslims" seems to be the basic tenet of our foreign policy right now.

I built a new garage.
I suppose 200+ years ago their was a tree on that spot.
So I guess, that’s why the, ‘bees’, have now, taken up residences over the door.

I can’t go in or out of it, without being, ’stung’.

Any suggestions, as to how I can, “appease the bees".
(Food, Water, Shelter, etc.)
So they do not sting me, when I use my garage?

Or should I just knock down their nest, and step on them?

Many years ago, I was in Denmark. At a party.
I dropped a cigarette butt into a empty beer bottle.
All of a sudden, people looked at me,
( like I just pooped in my pants, and it was running down my leg.)
The, Hostess, demurely whispered in my ear;  “We don’t do that here”.

I never did that again !

So tell me again,     WHY,
should,  ‘I’,  need to hold my, ‘bacon’, off the belt in the supermarket,
Because someone from a, DIFFERENT,  Country,
does not like it ?????

Why should I, curtail my Opinion, Because someone from a, DIFFERENT,  Country,
Who, Try’s, ‘EXTORTION’,  to further their views ?????

Why should I, modify my, ’tolerant’, behavior to all  people,
(Who are, Tax Paying Citizens of THIS Country) who have a ‘right’, to a a different view,
Because someone from a, DIFFERENT,  Country,
(Who is  NOT a TAX  PAYING CITIZEN, of  THIS  Country),
Thinks otherwise ??????????

Please tell me why?

Perhaps I should travel to a Country, Let’s say Italy.
And then DEMAND,  that the, Values, Thoughts, Ideas,
FROM, the country I  come from,
be applied in THAT  Country !

Or, perhaps, next time I am on a Airplane,
And the person next to me is wearing a full Beria,
I need to SUE, the Airplane Company,
Because I was,  ‘OFFENDED”  !!!!!!

Wonder how well that would go  ?????

No, Sir, the typical emasculated are those who live in a would-be castle, with two oceans as moat.

Had the 13 Colonies not been so isolated from Europe, history could have been much much different. But that is another story.

We still have our testicles, thank you very much, we also have scars from previous wars against the arabs and turks (and we only won a few of a long series)
and have learned that diplomacy works better than war when dealing with a culture that makes "immolation in war" as perhaps the only way to win a ticket to heaven.
And before you think I refer to the Crusades alone, look up the "naval battle of Lepanto" or simply read of the history of naval expeditions of the Republics of Genoa and Venice, or by the Knights of Malta, against the ottoman Turks and Saracen pirates.
Or of Spain's questo to drive out the Moors and gain independence.

Incidentally, read the Pope's statements on respect and tolerance; while he doesn not invoke war, he also said "If someone insults my mother, he should not be surprised if I punch him in the face".

So a reaction is justified and to be expected. Too much of a reaction is an overreaction, and, as of late, you guys have quite a reputation in overreacting...

"

This is exactly what has been going for the last 50 years, kind sir.
Starting with Coca Cola, Pepsi and Fanta (thankfully Root Beer was refused and classified as a toilet cleaner Wink )
Jeans... many dress fads and music styles (rap and wearing trousers 5 sizes too large very loose around your butt... not to mention sweatshirts with double hoods...)

We have (alas !) McDonalds, Burger King (which isn't so bad after all) and KFC (in Northern Europe mostly) and many regional dishes have all but dissappeared in the last 30 years or so...
...to make way for the Halloween pumpkin  Shocked or the XMas turkey (we always had roast beef, roast pork or lamb...)

Please tell me what is the last film you saw at the movies which was a 100% European movie,
or what book you read recently which was by a European author,
please tell me what food you ate recently which was 100% originaol European recipe
(incidentally, "Pasta Alfredo" "Pepperoni Pizza and "Chicken Pesto" are three crimes against humanity, and do not exist across the ocean other than for those places who cater to the easily disoriented overseas tourist...)

Is THIS your idea of "culture" ?

Next time you want to call someone "demasculated", read the ingredients in your "Diet-whatever" salad dressing and see how much olive oil is in there...
and how much nondescript "vegetable oil" is in there...

It's palm oil, gentlemen... we use it as diesel fuel replacement... and you actually eat it ?  Tongue

Seriously?..... that's your retort to being labeled ball-less..... to proudly exclaim the amount of olive oil in your dressing?... Yea, okay....

I stand by what I said; any variation of the phrase 'the asked for it' is evidence the Islamic Fascists are winning.

Which by the way, is the name we need to refer to  'them' as. Sure, i get the phrase "Not all Germans were Nazi's, but all Nazi's were Germans" and I know not all Muslims are terrorist, but all the recent terrorist attacks of any concern were carried out by Muslims so let's call a spade a spade.
