I think a few of the opinions are going a bit off subject of the story.

I don't post much, because the cut and paste crap.... leads to far fetched and totally obtuse angles they take.

Story, muslim extremists kill newspaper cartoonists who depict their "prophet/savior" in an inappropriate manor according to the religious sect.

Let us say, the same news agency posted an inappropriate picture of jesus violating a sheep....

Would Christians then fire bomb the news office?

Let us say, the same news agency posted a picture of the pope being violated by one of his clergy...

Would the catholics firebomb the news office?

You think of a jewish one...i'm all out...

There are NO, extremist Christian, Catholic, Jewish,Prodistant or Hindu ect,, ect,, religious sects now-a-days that would go to the extreme of automatic weapons and gunning down said news agency.

Somewhere somehow, this will have to be addressed.....

History of ANY religion is NOT an issue....TODAY is...

Lets hope our nations can figure out how to put an end to the Muslim Extremism....

You are right OR, however......
As evidenced by Bot's declaration of all things not being black/white, but gray, or another way to put it, there is no absolutes.......uh,except that one I guess  Grin
These others topics are evidence at the ACLU and narrow-minded folk who call themselves liberal, even tho they are extreme, having academia, and press, as willing participants into the deceptions, or disingenuous dialogue, of their tightly held "beliefs."

Back to Ferguson....

If this lad had been raised WITHOUT the influences of those I just mentioned, he would still be alive today, or in the least, not had died in the manner he did, and the ensuing riots would never had happened.....

Of course it is a vast over-simplification of a complex issue, one so deep in our society it will take a skilled surgeons hand to extract the cancer so embedded in the mind(set) of many....

I think it will take thinking like I finally did when I came to realize I had a problem with booze.

I had spent most of my energy in defending or minimizing its effects on me, and my family.....
Not until I faced the facts could I begin to even glimpse the truth....
I was so wrapped up in my own emotions, using the actions of others to justify my continuation of my actions and "beliefs", that I had not a snowballs chance in heel at seeing truth.

Once I owned it, and more important, believed it, did my life change....
I was so dead in spirit, I don't know how/why I lived there so long...

Truth is freedom, not being sanctioned by a political system, people, money, or motorcycle  Cheesy

And we all inherently know what the truth is, I think it was gifted in the womb, we just get co-opted and indoctrinated from our very first breath....

Try to wrap an understanding around this observation, "We lie the loudest, when we lie to our self"

I have taken the trouble of reading all three pages of this thread, and have come to the conclusion that none of you, not one, has ever seen one of the cartoons published by CHARLIE HEBDO.

CHARLIE HEBDO can only be defined as "An Adult's version of MAD Magazine", because more often than not its satire crosses the line into pornography.

And since we are ALL CHRISTIANS in this Forum (perhaps a Jew or two) here is a few cartoons to tickle your humor.

There.

Do you feel amused ?

Are you tickled ?

Methinks... NOT.

To my eye, to see the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost playing buggery to celebrate gay marriage is blasphemy.

It Italy the Church would have thundered. Blasphemy is anything but "civilization".

In the US anybody would have marched to the local judge or police station to place their complaint.

In France they say they are tolerant. In France they say they are "good people"...

In Italy, an old saying goes "too good means stupid".

I do not condone, but in a certain way, they asked for it...  Lips Sealed

(I am certain this post will live only a few minutes and then be censored by the Mods... which proves my point exactly... that there is a fine line between "Freedom" and "Offensive")

IF MOHAMMED WERE TO RETURN
"I am the Prophet, stupid!"
"Shut up, infidel!"

THE CORAN IS SH*T

"Tomorrow I have Jihad"
"Lucky guy, I have Math!"

IT'S SO HARD TO BE LOVED BY IDIOTS! ...............JESUS CHRIST: "Next week I will do the Resurrection trick! ..................(Prophet Mohammed on all fours) A STAR IS BORN

SEE WHAT I MEAN ? WOULD YOU TOLERATE THIS ?

You have got to be kidding.

So you are a Christen,  A Catholic,  And you see a very graphic,  even, ’pornographic’.
Cartoon, of the Pope.   Ya gonna Shoot Someone ?
I don’t think Anyone, even a band of, the Knights Templar, (which many say still exist)
Would, SHOOT someone !

Lets say a similar cartoon was published about, Joseph Smith,
Not even a, "Avenging Angel”,  (Which even Many Mormons, say still exist)
Would go out and  SHOOT someone !

Now would  those people, make comments, about that.
Most very likely.

Even the Irish Catholics and the British Protestants,
have stopped KILLING people !

Don’t care how, distasteful, the CHARLIE HEBDO cartoons are.
(In some peoples minds)
I find them extremal timely and funny!

Lets see: A Priest and a Rabi, were sitting on a park bench.
a 12 your old boy walks by.
The Priest says:  “Wouldn’t you want to F*** that”
The Rabi says:  “Out of what ?”

So now, a Catholic, or Jew is going to SHOOT me now ?????
... Methinks... NOT. ...

Their are many people that find the NUDE Statue of David, "Offensive".
Who should decide, WHERE that line is? Or even if their should be a line.

I heard in the news the other day.
That a Man was charged with Rape,
and he got off.

Reason:  "She Asked For It".
He proved her Skirt was to short, and her Blouse was to low.

mpescatori........

Where did I say I ever read the guy?

I am afraid you did not understand the context of which I posted originally, before it expanded a wee bit.

And to post this mans cartoons so you can prove your point (in your own mind) might suggest you are willing to surrender your scruples in order to score a few intellectual points (again, in your mind) in some kind of debate mentality mode......

I had no idea of the man, or his publication, and I have never opened the "link" to view any of his work, as most of the news stories link it, but thanks to you, that has all been changed, uh, thanks, I feel so enlightened, not.

The TT is basically unmoderated for content,... other than following Yabb rules, and personal attacks...

No porn, no F-bombs... (Yabb says so)
...no personal attacks...(I say so)...
You can name call politicians or personalities,...just not other members...
Especially,... me... Grin...

These cartoons are vile, tasteless, and not particularly funny, ... but they make a political point... (both for Charlie and Pescatori)... I don't consider them to be porn any more than Michelangelo's David... (although they sure ain't comparable talent wise)...
...(I believe "porn" must show nudity for the purpose of titillation, and these surely don't)...

I won't take them down, unless Yabb, MJ, or Pescatori asks me to....

Regrettably,...
Serow

Charlie Hebdo were very sick twisted perverts.  As far as the West claiming free speech ... they gave a fellow a one year jail sentence for offending Muslims in Toronto just before the Paris attacks occured.

First a great quote from Ace.mu.nu -
"If you can't issue an endorsement of free speech without fearing others will think you are also endorsing the content, something is wrong." [rdbrewer]

Funny how libs were all over the anti-flag burners, goes to show how fluid their position on civil rights can be.

Look, we all (well, most of us) value a person's right to express themselves as a universal right irrespective of the content of that expression. I have seen the C.H. covers off the current and past issues but I knew the attack was wrong before then, I knew right away. It is a no brainer, controlling expression is a form of intimidation and a step towards slavery. C.H. has a right to their expression as you have a right to not purchase their content.

Evidently JOG is still on sabbatical, so I feel obligated to underscore a couple details that haven’t received the proper amount of attention.

1.       The suspected assassin erroneously left his ID in the back seat of the get-a-way car.

2.      The lead investigator apparently committed suicide shortly after the attack in the police station.

I find it hard to believe a trained assassin would make that kind of unforced error.

Best regards,
