Replacing rear turn signals
01/07/15 at 16:15:01
Hello all... (2011 stock) I want to change my rear turn signals since one is cracked and I've already tried superglue. I can't find instructions in Clymers or elsewhere on how to remove the existing signal and replace it. I do see the screw underneath, but after removing it, the turn signal is still attached by wires. Where should I separate those? Other steps / suggestions? Thanks in advance!

So I took off the seat (I've gotten pretty good at that since I had a fight with the battery for a bit) and saw the connection. But it goes behind the piece of metal (arrowed in picture) that I can't seem to remove. I've taken off the two visible 12mm bolts. But that metal protector doesn't seem to move at all. Ideas?

Feel the inside of the fender... There's bolts under there...
You may have to jack up the rear, or even remove the wheel to get to them...
Ain't bike mechanikin' fun?...

Thanks. Now I just have to find a decent match. Any ideas if this will work?

It seems that the original signal was held in by the screw. Not sure if these have one...

Check out Pinwall Cycles, they sell parted out bikes. I have ordered a number of parts from them and they have proved to be a good group to work with.
I didn't see any turn signals you would want to buy; although, give it a week or two and a pretty good chance they will have something.

Thanks. I can't figure out how any of these will attach... The screw hole that the "original" ones have don't seem to exist on the eBay ones. Anything I'm missing, or do I need to pony up $80 for an "official" replacement?

I don't know of any aftermarket parts will work as easily as an OEM part. The link I provided above has good used parts that you can get a very reasonable price. I have seen turn signals on there for about $30.
