Thank you,,I saw this a few weeks ago and went to the Dead Battery storage box, checked every 9 volt in it,, looked in the fridge where I keep batteries, carefully adjusted them and protected them. There is no good way to have fire, but to CAUSE one,Yourself out of ignorance? Ohhh, that would be tuff to deal with.

Saw a Pep Boy's auto shop use a steel shopping cart to store old auto batteries in. One was shorted out on the cart and had the cart glowing red hot and smoking. Told the manager about it, he just shrugged and rolled the cart outside. Guess he had never seen a car battery blow up.
Scared the sh!! out of me.

Crap....I have a small cardboard box full of old batteries to be recycled sitting in my shop - I just threw 3 more AAA batteries in the box last night.
Gonna have to do something with it when I get home. The good news is my batteries are very nearly dead by the time I replace them.....not much heat left in them (I hope).
