jardine rumbler upgrade
12/23/14 at 19:21:09

I've just upgraded to a jardine rumbler from a stock exhaust. It's loud! Also seems to backfire more than before. Wondering if a rejet and filter
Upgrade will help? Any help greatly appreciated.

When you install a muffler that is nearly wide open without any baffles......the engine doesn't behave well when the throttle is closed.  You need to jet the carb so the engine runs well when the throttle is open.....not when it is closed.

If you want loud......then you just have to understand there are some problems that come with it.  You may very well not like the way it will sound when you close the throttle.

Fair play about the mod vs upgrade. It does sound sweeter just would like to eliminate the back fire. What difference will filter change make i.e. Open up the engine to more air

Do you want loud or sounding good and running good?
I dumped about$400.00 on a Supertrap and the extra pack of disks. I would have had at least 90% of the gain in power and almost the same sound with a $20.00 Dyna takeoff,, not to mention the fact that the Dyna is a great look on the Savage.
It's not too late,,
Depending on the year model, the jetting is different from the factory.
Some year models will take a Dyna and not need rejetting.

What year and how many miles?

It's a 2006. It's only done about 4000kms so relatively low mileage. Id rather have sounding good and running good.

I have a Jardine on one of my bikes and it runs great with 155 main and a 52.5 pilot.
I use to have a pod filter on that bike too, it required a 55 pilot to run correctly. The bike acts too choppy for me with the pod filter so i took it off, it has a lag, you gas it and it reacts 2 seconds after...

Im much happier with a stock airfilter but will give a k&n panel filter a try soon

The jardine is a great pipe, go with a 152.5 or a 155 main
