Just installed a 4" long uni pod filter. Took a test ride and she cuts out ,burps n jerks at about 4500 rpm . Do I go to a bigger main jet?

You might also have to raise the needle a bit as well.

And be certain the filter is not one that blocks the hole in the upper part of the inlet on the carb.  Some of the filters have thick rubber that blocks that port....and the carb can't work properly that way.

Pay attention to what Dave said.. we have seen several suffer odd problems
After installing a filter that blocked the carb up.

In the process of desmogging a '96 California emissions Savage, I installed a pod filter. Plug checks indicated lean so I went to 150, then 155  until I got the desired tan color. My pod filter makes the bike louder. The intake literally drowns out the exhaust note at speed (Dyna muffler). When I installed a crankcase breather from Bike Bandit, it became noticeably quieter.
