Is this seat stock for a 2001
11/26/14 at 16:04:26

Does anyone know if the front seat is stock for a 2001? I don't think it is. I'm 5'6" but seat seems to be a bit thick. I've got the shocks as soft as possible. If it's not stock I may try to get a stock seat or if it's a stock seat, I may get one from Biltwell.

Thanks, David.

It looks like a stock seat with extra padding and a new cover on it.  If you look closely, you can see the profile of the old seat sticking through the side panel of the seat cover. The original seat and possibly the original cover may be lurking underneath that big black ugly lump of a seat cover.

Ahh, There's hope. I do have an air powered staple gun so I may try to remove the cover and that extra padding and then restaple it.

Thanks, David.

I don't know how much long distance riding you've done, but I would be inclined to try a couple of hundred miles in a day on that seat. If it seems comfortable after that, perhaps leave well alone.

So I pulled the staples off and found a nice stock seat underneath the extra padding and vinyl.

Thanks for the input, folks.

David.

Did you find it to be uncomfortable with the extra padding?  That stock seat definitely looks a bit flat.

It was too high and wide for me being 5' 6". I like the stock seat (but I really like the look of the bobber seats).

Thanks, David
