Jog, there are 3 million people in the St. Louis area. There's no such thing as calling a few hotels.

If you want to know what's going on, go on twitter and search out #fergusonoctober. You'll find out what the masses are saying and what the papers won't print.

Ray, you'll find out why I and everyone hare worry about what's coming next.

Really> ? Cant call 3 mangy motels? Is Ferguson NOT a town? Are there no motels THERE?

A quote from a yahoo news story (Reuters)
"Union members, gay rights activists and people from the Occupy movement joined in. Civil rights organizations and protest groups had invited people from across the United States to join vigils and other weekend events in the St. Louis area."

They are actually busing people into the Saint Louis area.... Sad

Thankfully, it's been raining for the better part of 3 days straight and more today.
Today had been set aside as a day of "civil disobedience" Our local piece of $hit newspaper even published this like it's just another event on the calendar.

"Thunderstorms likely today with a low of 58 and a high of 75. It's Columbus Day so banks and many schools will be closed. Oh, and it's civil disobedience day where you get to interrupt traffic and Monday Night Football in honor of one thug who robbed a store and punched a cop. A two for one special today as we're also going to march in honor of a second thug, awaiting trial on a gun possession charge who shot three times at a cop with a stolen gun. So grab your umbrellas kiddies cause you're gonna get wet stopping traffic this morning....."

figure out how to get on twitter. shouldn't be too hard for a guy so smart he's one of the only few who can figure out how everything's connected....

I have often wondered, in a ‘protest’, (any protest, by anybody).

Were do all the different, protesters, come up with, or get, all the different signs?
Not the ones, crudely painted on cardboard, but the fancy printed ones?

Is their some central, ’shopping’, place ?
“OK I’ll take one of them, and two of those, and throw in one of that”.

Does a group, get together and make, (have made), something they like, then pass them out to only ’that’, group.?.

Does a group, pass them out and say,
“OK, you get these, and you say this, and go over their”,
“Now you get those, and you say that, and go over here”. ?

Do people make their own, (at home, perhaps on the computer),
then get on a buss or a plane, or a friends car, and take them with?

And, Who Pays for them ????

Or is it like your school district, when they want more money,
(to pay for a new assistant, for the assistant, to the assistant , assistants secretary)
And then,  ’suddenly’,  these professionally made signs pop up all over,
and their are 3-4 bulk mailings, and their are adds in the local newspapers.
“Vote YES, on XXXXX”. (Which happens every two years)

Gee, No one knows, where the money for those signs, etc, comes from either.   Wink

Local councilmen, clergy, political groups..... they fund raise all year and have surplus money in accounts, unmarked of course.
They go to a local graphics shop and say "we need X amount of signs that say, hands up don't shoot"
Graphics company don't care...they are making money, make it look good and local joe will come buy one too.

We had groups that wore camo uniform looking outfits and had signs saying "wounded warrior", it didn't say wounded warrior project, they left out the project so as not to use a legal charity.
Anyway, come to find out they were just a group of guys making money traveling the US, didn't even have a permit. If anyone catches them, they are usually just told to leave, if they get a ticket, it is usually about $100 and they pay it and move on to the next town.
Easy to make money to do the sign thing....

Why you ask? is the shite hitting the fan? Because the autopsy report is leaning toward the officers side.... gun residue on Michael's hand.... and the crowds know that they are supporting a lost cause, they KNOW he was guilty.
But its Thug life you know....
Just like the senator that was there in the street, she knew her rights, she had alcohol on her breath (in two officers reports), and was carrying a concealed weapon (with no CCW ON HER) and did not notify officers at the scene.
She outright called the officers liars and said she wasn't drunk (maybe true, but she was "under the influence") and refused a breathalizer (knowing it would have shown she was under the influence), and she always carries (but forgot her CCW card, which you HAVE to carry with you if you are armed, and you cannot be under the influence of alcohol while carrying).
As long as this attitude is "accepted" by the general populous in the area, and as long as folks put up with the riots....errr....protests, it will never change.
Has anyone got a "realistic" answer to the problem, no.... attitudes have to change first.... the forestry division is right with the signs placed at the entrance to all parks ...
"Do not feed the animals, they will become dependent on handouts and could prove dangerous"
I'm done....

OK, I'm gonna add my two cents worth:

First off, the late Michael Brown appears to be the victim of his own actions. He was a young dumb guy who will not have the opportunity to outgrow his youthful stupidity.

Secondly, the time, manner, location of his death, along with the leaving of his body unattended in the middle of the street for several hours brought out feelings of resentment in much of the local Black community.  Ferguson, along with many other micro-suburbs, has adopted predatory police and court tactics to balance their municipal budgets in the face of declining property tax revenues.

The locals, by and large, have protested peacefully.  There have been opportunists coming in mostly from surrounding communities to capitalize on a chance to loot.

The outpouring of racist sentiment from the White community has been despicable.  And yes, comparing underemployed people to animals is racist. (And an inaccurate comparison:  Animals hunt and forage for food -- accustoming them to human contact is dangerous and should be discouraged.  But even the park service delivers hay and fodder to the elk and bison during severe winters.)

I don't know what the answer to our current situation is -- but I'm pretty sure that animosity and racism are not going to improve it.

Well I am thankful it was Holder, Obama, and a democrat gov who are taking precautions.

I can't help but think about the "what if" they were a white AG, Bush, and a repub gov instead.....you know the mainstream media, NCAAP, etc would be calling them, uh....., gee, the word seems to have escaped me  Cheesy

And finally, if there is rioting, etc, it will only represent a small segment, and fueled on by the very same media, etc, the vast majority of folks don't condone this behavior, never have, never will.

Unfortunately, in the same manner some Muslim countries strongly support murdering Jews, a good % of black Americans will support violence against the police.

Speaking of Islamic pieces of human excrement,  there is some pretty strong Islamic extremist influence going on in a Ferguson. Two New Black Panthers who converted and changed to Muslim names, were arrested for buying guns at the local Cabelas and giving then to local protestors. There were allegations about pipe bombs also which I take to mean they bought black powder too.

The Grand Jury did not decide on any action and will meet again Monday I guess. Happy Thanksgiving to us in St. Louis!
