Other than mounting front brakes and wrapping the exhaust,it's pretty much done.Made a set of foot pegs out of a bent set of bars and some old grips(I'm a pack rat).

I'm sure that orange looks great in the sunlight & I like how you used two of those cat-eye lights for brake lights  Cool

Thanx.I like a side mount light. To be legal in Ohio, you have to have one on each side.So cars can see you(I know hahaha)from either side.I also run dual filament bulbs in the turn signals that double as brake lights too. 4 brake lights = pretty bright. Grin

Instead of wrapping the exhaust,I opted for high heat black paint.I think it actually looks pretty good.Finished it up,put gas in her, fired her up only to find out...It's Raptor time.
I also think I'm going to have to clean the carb....again.Seems like float is sticking too. Angry

I did a part search.....and the sites indicated the list price was about $ 30, and most were offering it from $ 21 -$ 26....not including shipping.

I imagine if you walk into a dealer it will be about $ 30.....online you will have to deal with some shipping cost and probably end up about $ 30.

At least one eBay seller will sell it to you for $ 24.53 with free shipping...the listing shows it to be a real Yamaha part...hopefully that is what they will ship you.  If it doesn't come in the white Yamaha box....they have done a bait and switch and sent you a fake.

yep. That's why for a couple bucks give or take,I got it fropm Ron Ayers. It will be a Yamaha one.Everything I've ever ordered from there has been factory stuff. And they're usually in the ballpark on price with Ebayers.

Around here, the only thing that dealers stock are bikes and gear. They can order the part.It will be there in 3-5 days. And it's all dealers around here.Honda,Harley....etc.We have an Indian/Polaris/Kawasaki dealership in town. They don't even have an oil filter for my 800 Vulcan. They can order it x dollars plus shipping.

That is pretty common for most replacement parts.  Dealers just can't afford to keep a lot of stuff sitting on the shelf.  They may have things that sell often like levers for dirt bikes, oil and air filters, inner tubes, a selection of tires....and lots of choices for oil, cleaners, gloves, jackets, etc.  It is really rare that I can walk in to a dealer and walk out with a part the same day.  I just kind of pick and choose when to order locally or online....bigger orders mostly are done online as I can get a 10% AMA discount with Bike Bandit and don't have to pay sales tax or shipping for bigger orders....and the arrival time is about the same.  I know there is a big controversy about this in the Tall Table area - but when you order form your dealer or Bike Bandit or Ron Ayers or Motorycycle Superstore the rare parts are going to be ordered from the same supplier and will take about the same amount of time to arrive.

Well...I did the raptor petcock, recleaned the carb, and changed the oil.I still have a top end knock.I was hoping it was due to gas in the oil,but nope.......So it looks like the clutch cover gets removed.Check the pesky tensioner. It's a '98 with just about 14,000 miles.
