I have Z bars with 3" of rise, that's the lowest I would recommend.

I have lower bars than stock and the brake line was way too long to fit properly. Throttle wasn't a problem.

Just measured mine. I have 3" between the top triple clamp and the bottom of the handlebar. The actual riser height is 1.5" of tube between the rubber/chrome mount thing on the top clamp and the original handlebar clamp. In other word, the original bar riser arrangement plus 1.5".
I'll take a pic. The flat washers are because the tubes I had were that much too short. The tube + washers = 1.5"
My bars are flat drag bars with 2" pullback. That clears the tank only just.
The stock cables and brake hose work fine on my one.

The pulled back tip are in at 90 deg to a line through the risers, so the point down a little. The bars are 29" tip to tip. HTH.
