Some of the aircraft I have jumped out of, I was glad to leave.

Me too! I'm surprised that some of themC130s were even air worthy. My favorite was the shithook  Shocked

I always enjoyed a chinook jump, but did very few of them. C-130 now, jumped them just about every way imaginable except tail gate of all things. I even jumped out of a Japanese C130 for my wings back at ol' Ft. Bragg in the early 90s. Cleanest plane I had ever been on, and they rang the bail out bell for us as we exited the aircraft. Good times.

I also noticed your tag name...we may have been stationed together, as I too, was a 12B for many moons.

I did check Wikipedia, and was surprised to  learn it had that role. I'm sure we couldn't afford those ones

They sound very loud too if you are on the ground while they are firing. At the Sapper Leader Course in the 90s we shared Cannon Range with them, and they would conduct a few runs while we were out of their target box.

I've jumped out of Chinooks too. It's always fun starting from front and making a running dive out the back  Grin . The biggest complaint about the C130 is being stuck for 16+ hours in those oh so comfortable hammock seats. Every Chinook I ever flew in had multiple hydraulic leaks. As with any helicopter - if you don't see any hydraulic fluid leaking, get off cause it's empty

I loved having a AC130 overhead (along with some A10's and Apaches)

Or an inflight rig on a C130 where there is no organization and people just start trying to put on parachutes all at the same time.
