Hi, i have a 1995 LS650, that thanks to you guys I was able to determine that it had problems. Basically it was not generating and the battery was getting depleted. With troubleshooting found here I was able to verify that my Stator was fried. I bought a new one from Ricks Motorsport and installed it. I was hoping to reuse the stator cover gasket, but it was basically all broken, so I had to order one, and it took 10 days to get to me, during that time my engine was without oil, the stator cover and the oil filter cover, I covered the engine with rags to have some protection.

Now I have the gasket and ready to install everything but I am worried about any dirt that could have gotten into the engine during this time. Should I assemble, load oil run the bike for a little time and then change again the oil, or should I not worry at all.

Please help, any suggestions accepted.

If it was dusty what would you do, how would you clean it, products, how would you proceed with the oil?

It actually blow up, smoke and everything!!!!  :'(

Naaaa, it went ok, i did get smoke from some oil i spilled on the exaust thermal wrap, i washed it with water let it dry and that was it.

No pics my hands were too dirty.

One pointer for those that will do this, after i replaced the stator and assembled all, and turned on the bike, I tested the voltage on all three phases at idle speed it was about 27 VAC, I connected the rectifier to the stator and disconnected from the bike I got 36 VDC, I was really confused, but I took the risk and connected the rectifier to the bike the voltage was brought down to a nice 14VDC, my battery is charging and my bike is thumping.
