Dual filament turn signal wiring question
09/11/14 at 05:43:51

Just got some dual filament turn signals to replace the mini single filament ones I've had for a few years. They need another connection to work as running lights, which means I need to run another wire from somewhere to make them work. I was thinking either the license plate or brake light. What do you all think would be easiest? I've still got the fender rails to hide the wiring, so it shouldn't be too hard.

If the turn signals are yellow - it is illegal to use them as running lights in the back of the bike in most states.  Rear running lights are required to be red.

Now that the warning has been issued.....the correct place to get the power would be from the brown wire that delivers the power to the rear running light and license plate light.

A feed from the tail light should be fine. I would trace the tail light wire back to the under seat area and splice in there, then run wires down the fender rail.

Are your new lights red and not amber? It's illegal to have any full-time rear lights that are not red.

They are yellow. But I've seen way too many Harley guys down here with like 17 yellow running lights on the back of their bikes for it to be a problem. I hope. Thanks for the heads up though.

Should have re-tapped the threads before screwing on the new signal. Busted it trying to get it out after realizing it wasn't gonna tighten all the way. I've tried everything I can think of to get it out. Got the other side perfect after redoing the threading. Any ideas?

Please tell me I don't need part 1 of this diagram because of my mistake...

'07. Holla if anyone has it...

The top is so gnarly from grabbing it with pliers, then cutting a slit in it with a hacksaw and trying to unscrew it...
