Last Sunday I participated in a group ride, which was a good 2.5 hours of non-stop riding. It's now Tuesday, and my rear end is still sore. I've done the seat lift mod, and I noticed it does help quite a bit. However, it doesn't help enough for long rides, and it does nothing for the passenger.

I'm very interested in what Ridgerunner13 did with his, however I have a one piece seat on my 2006. Would it be prohibitively difficult to adapt both the rider and pillion seats from the V-Star to fit? And does anyone know if the pillion is any more comfortable than stock?

I really would love to spring for the Corbin, but money is money, and I can't shell that much out at the moment.

Usually it ends up being about 3 or 4 hours a week, and usually on weekends. Mostly 15-30 minute trips. I personally can drive my car for 5 hours straight and not have a problem. Though this week has been interesting. Still hurts a bit to sit longer than 2 hours. Then again, it's an excuse to not be at my desk at work

So, question is, can anyone recommend a replacement seat that could be adapted to fit the S40 that is good for both me and my girlfriend?

I watched an interesting thing on TED last night.
The presenter had lost both legs below the knee.
And had them replaced with bionic feet... no sh!t.
Which I recommend you all search out and view.

But, he discussed how they engineered the sockets, the most comfortable he's ever used.
He said in this day and age it's amazing that shoes can still create blisters.
Where your body is soft, the interface should be hard.
Where your body is hard, the interface should be soft.

So, except for a couple of hard points... the challenge is creating a shape that'll conform to your individual posterior.  There is a packing method where they take expanding foam shoot it into a bag put it in a box, lay the part on top then throw in another bag of foam on top then close up the box.  We could simply gut the stock seat, insert a bag, fill it with the foam, seal it up then sit on it till it hardens.

I put a seat from a V-Star on my bike, I made a bracket to fit the mounting points on the frame and attached it to the underside of the seat, ended up looking like a big "T" I thought I had pictures of the bracket, but I don't. It wasn't hard, if I can do it most anyone can. I got the seat for free from someone who just wanted to get ride of it, so I think it was from a V-Star.
