In the Spring, when I take out, my, ('Left over' 50-1 oil gas), from the boat, weed whips, chain saws, etc. (Which was ONLY Non-Oxy gas was used in the mix) I pour it in to a container. Then add it to the law mowers, and once and a while to the S40.
(Probably/About, 500 OZ gas (NON- OXY), to 16 OZ of, 50-1)
Don't know the exact mix, but I am guessing it is like 1-500 + (Nothing measured, it is just a, 'pore') And, ( No empirical proof).
But, it does two things. 1. SAVES that rather expensive gas. 2. Make me, 'feel better'.
Never have had a problem.
But I use only, 'Ash less Oil" for the mix. even though I could use TCW-3, (Water cooled oil) in the outboard.
Yes, Virginia, their IS a Difference on the Oil you mix with gas, as to being, (Two Cycle), 'Water Cooled, or 'Air Cooled".
If it Does Not Say, on the Package, is it "AIR Cooled" . DO NOT, EVER use it in a, AIR Cooled, engine. !!!!!! EVER. (well, unless you don't care if they last very long)
If it is, Water cooled Engine, Then 'Water cooled' TCW-3, or Air Cooled oil, is just fine.
Some years ago, their were group of people, running little 5hp, B&S, in 'go-carts". They had, 'tweaked' these little things to get as much as 15 HP. They ALL, ran, Ash less, Two Cycle oil, in the Crankcase, (Changing after every race).
Those guys knew a lot more about it than I. I just watched.
So as to your question, I, 'think', if your are 'above', a 1-500 ratio, (With AIR Cooled OIL), 'should', be no problem. Perhaps a Benefit.
