OK, Know/Done; the Raptor exchange for the factory 'Vacuum'.
On a LS650, (needed it) and a 06, (Didn't need it, 'yet')  Did it anyway.

Just picked up a Kawi Vulcan 800 (1999), and it is is carb, and has a 'Vacuum' Petcock. (Working now at 9,000 miles)
(Yea Yea, I know, my, Harley buddies say: " Gee, you finally got a bike that you don't look like a Monkey driving a Peanut".
Of course, they say that with a  SMILE !

Any experience here with, that, petcock failing?
And any experience with a replacement, (old fashion kind, and blocking the vacuum port on the carb), which is a direct fit, without Mods to the tank?  Like the LS650/S40.

The  V800 forums, say nothing about it.

Perhaps it is the kind, which has a, 'rubber', which is  NOT, affected,
by, Ethanol gas?

I've got a '98 Vulcan 800. At 24k, I noticed that the vac petcock was leaking. I only discovered it because I had to pull the tank to adjust the valves. It was just a very slow drip. The leak was only down the fuel line and not the vacuum line and it appeared that the float needle was doing it's job correctly.

After the discovery, I researched on a couple of Kaw forums. It is a known problem, but probably is not bad as the Savage petcock issue.  It sounded like it takes longer for the Vulcan petcocks to fail.  Maybe they are built a little better. It was interesting, though, that in the forums, a few people mentioned that they bought petcock rebuild kits but they failed to solve the problem. The recommendation was a new petcock, about $85.  The VN800 petcock mount looks like the Savage one.  I don't know if they interchange. I didn't have a Savage or Raptor petcock to compare it to.

My '96 800 has been sitting for at least 5 years.It leaked bad.Bought a rebuild kit on Ebay for 30 bux..........Done.
