Gas Tank Tango part  2
09/05/14 at 16:02:37

I'd previously written about the hassles of installing your gas tank. One danger and two more tips to offer. . . ever notice when you are sliding the tank onto the rubber pucks (the ones you glued to the frame with silicone seal) that you meet some resistance. Careful! The bike could roll forward off the sidestand and fall, leaving you trying to hold the tank and catch the bike. Two tips: one, ensure you apply a little WD40 to the pucks and female receptacles on the inside of the tank tunnel, and two, if you are right handed, you'll probably be lifting and pushing with your right hand at the tail end of the tank from the left side of the bike (works best for me). Brace your calf against the folded out passenger peg to to stop the bike from rolling / falling.

Normally I park mine in gear so it doesn't tend to roll on me.

MSF Instructor says "park" is first gear on all bikes.  Good habit, not sure I did that in the old days. Smiley
