You guys are right

I need a new complete piston and valve head with complete valves

If I can locate them on the cheap then I'll fix her up but not looking so good right now..

Heads come along for $ 250 once or twice a year, and a piston is a $ 50 item.  Then the gaskets and other parts will most likely add another $ 100 or so.......$ 400 to fix that engine up.  You may well have to wait 6 months or more to find that engine that has a broken starter or transmission shaft, etc.....but has a good piston, cylinder and head.

This is the kind of bike that is ripe for an engine transplant if the chassis is in good shape.  Good low mileage 5 speed engines can be had for $ 500 - $ 800.

If this was a bike you wanted to fix and ride yourself and get a cheap bike to ride, you can buy an engine and get a running bike without too much expense.  If you were looking to buy a bike and turn it over for some profit.....maybe this one is not a "fixer upper" worth the investment in parts and labor.  It is hard to buy broken Savages and make much of a profit on them......as the good running and well maintained bikes don't sell for a lot of money.

Pinwall Cycles in Massillon, OH often has sales and discounts......you might want to contact them and see what they have. (330-880-0715).  About a year ago I got a 2006 engine with 2,700 miles for $ 520, and they were able to ship it for $ 60.  (I would have had to pay $ 30 in taxes if I drove 4 hours to go pick it up!).

Thanks Dave. You are a great support on this forum!
I already have a good running 2002, I picked this bike up cause I got it for the right price.
I guess I'll take this bike, strip it and sell it. I mean someone has to need the parts that are still good on this bike..

If you have the storage, you have a lot of good spares, in case of a drop or similar
