piston rod
08/29/14 at 05:01:09

K I am getting ready to put this thing back together and I wanna be sure I am good to go. I had no knock previously but when I shake the rod I get Maybe 1mm or 2 of side to side movement, very slight feels solid, no bearing noises. I am gonna flush the case the desil tonight to get all the cruddies out... Dose the piston rod thing seem usual?

All roller bearing cranks are going to have a little side to side movement at the big end. It's up and down slop that causes a knock. My Clymers manual gives a spec of 0.10 to 0.65 mm
with a wear limit of 1.0 mm, but you have to actually measure it, not just wiggle it back and forth and estimate.

My best guess is that you are fine, though.

No one has ever worn out a crankshaft assembly, ever.    The only real bearing trouble has been Suzuki's line people not tightening down and locktite correctly a through bearing nut underneath the alternator.   And the count for this "bad assembly" issue is like 1-2 so far in our entire list history.
