Demin Serious Thumper Offline We need more chlorine in the gene pool Posts: 2435 Warren,Ohio Gender:	Grinding while starting. 08/28/14 at 11:50:18 Lent the '87 out.He said he was bringing it back because he got tired of jumping it everytime he wanted to ride.I rode it on a daily basis..no problem.He dropped it off and left.I cranked it and now some bad grinding going on.Pulled the starter so far.It seems ok.Going to pull side cover next.......

When I went out for a ride it was laying on it's side.

Reply #2 - 08/28/14 at 14:29:11 Well.......Got fairly lucky.Just broke a tooth off of the starter.And the piece was stuck to the flywheel. Can you say whew...........Just put that engine in about 500 miles ago.

Reply #8 - 10/09/14 at 05:12:57 Got a new starter,just under $100.00 bucks shipped.With a 1 year warranty.Back up and running. And had to get a new battery....Somehow it got fried.Hmmmmm.
