They weren't worth much brand new either. Embargo bikes designed to get "something" from Japan into the hands of American buyers in spite of the import tariffs. Decent engine, decent wheels, lousy ergonomics.

Around here people are asking more money for the eighties and seventies bikes that are in good condition than they did last year. On CL it would probably list at $1800 or more but it likely would not sale for anything more than a thousand.

I think all the older stock bikes are becoming more valuable because so many have been lost to customizing, bobbers, cafe racers, etc.

If it weren't for the current customising scene, who knows how many old nails like this would be scrapped or rotting away? Originality is overrated.
