Taking a bike that with the factory as shipped tires handles like a pig trying to roller skate on greased glass, and adding a wide-heavy front tire... good recipe for a crash. The 19/15 combo is inferior in looks and handling to the 21/16 custom standard, going for the touring rig 16/16 or 15/15 is going to make it worse. It would give a bit softer ride, but any steering input is going to be slow in response.
I have a T500 (Titan) front wheel on one of my pair, with a 90/90-19 front tire. If I could find an 80/90-19, I'd use that instead. The Titan wheel looks great, the dual pivot drum works better than the stock single puck caliper and disc could ever hope to work.
You CAN use a twin pull drum CB/CL 450 front wheel, same axle size as the Savage. My brake plate is actually off one of them, only the hub-hoop-spokes are Suzuki.
I have a pair of these bikes. The orange 98 custom has a fragged electrical system, the black 03 is mostly stock (and I can't even stand to look at it anymore because of that). I ought to paint and transfer the interesting stuff off the orange one onto the black one... but... both are scheduled for a visit to the metal shredder.
