Air filter change / airbox removal
08/08/14 at 06:55:54
I bought a neat little cone-shaped air cleaner on Ebay, $46. Having done some carb work, I despised trying to get the hose from carb to airbox reconnected. GRR! What a pain. The new filter clears the airbox nicely (they just barely touch. I removed the air box (hoo, boy! that's a hoot!) and left side cover from my ''96. Without the side cover and the metal bracket that hangs the "black box" (not sure what that is) there were no metal tabs on which to hang the black box thingie. Easy fix. Leave the rubber hangar on the black box and zip tie it under the seat between frame rails. It does not show nor interfere with the seat. With the airbox gone, the bike looks much cleaner and will be VERY much easier to perform carb work. Recommended! Mine did not need rejetting.
