Greasy film on eyeglasses
08/07/14 at 19:58:01

I have a strange thing happen when I clean my riding glasses or eyeglasses with PJ1 antifog. At night they develop a greasy film. I believe it only happens when the temperature drops below 70°F. And it keeps getting worse the longer I ride. I can't see due to glare from oncoming traffic after 20 minutes of highway riding. Does anyone else have these issues or am I special?

Thanks PM!

I cleaned off the PJ1 and went for a ride. No film. It is baffling.

Maybe PJ1 is crap?...
No personal experience, but I read that shaving foam will prevent fogging... (just sounds messy to me)...Undecided...

I agree PJ1 is crap. If I can't see when it cools down outside, it does me no good.

I do use Dawn dish soap on my face shield. It works well for about 3 to 4 hours.

Yea PJ1's anti-fog stuff doesn't have the best ratings, here's a decent comparison of some of the leading brands-   Wink

Never tried it on eye glasses, but I use this for diving and it works pretty well especially when you are diving in cold water where the tendency for fog inside the mask is high. Try at your own risk...This stuff is usually 'massaged' into the glass and then lightly rinsed assumingly leaving a light film on the glass.

Rainx also makes an anti-fog for your windshield's interior.  That may be worth a try as well.

I have no clue though as I don't ride in conditions where fog is an issue for me.

Good luck!

Greg, as I have thought about it, someone said lemon pledge, the furniture polish, on your face shield would prevent fogging, not sure how that would work on your glasses, though.
