Electrical Question
08/06/14 at 17:59:42
I am getting ready to remove the Savage stock tank/speedo and replace it with a peanut tank from an '89 sportster 1200. Since the Savage stock tank/speedo are integrated and the speedo has electrical going to it, when I remove the stock tank and install the peanut tank, will i have to do any mods to the electrical that is supposed to go to the speedo? Thank You

In not too worried about the speedo cable. That is not going to affect how the bike runs. But the electrical, i assume will cause issues. I was just hoping someone knew for sure about whether the electrical will be an issue or will the bike start and run as normal. and if so, how to correct it.
I can judge my speed pretty accurately in the city based and gear and the pitch of the engines sound so that is not an issue. although i will eventually buying an aftermarket mini speedo

The only one I would be worried about would be the neutral indicator. I'm not sure if it's part of the safety system or not.
The bright and flasher indicators as well as the dashlights should not pose any issue since they are just vampire loads off of the circuit.
