Sam's plunger was out 18mm, which turned out to be 2/3 of it's travel instead of 7/8 like in the 98 engine.
Swapped the modded version from the 98 into the 03, need to send 2 cores (and some funds) to get another one made up. On the very off chance I ever fix the 98 (sorely tempted to use it for target practice or just scrap it out).
Have some kind of odd lemon yellow fungus growing inside both engines.
Looks like a cross between lichen and mildew, never seen that before. Must be something introduced by the oil, since Sam hasn't been apart since I've owned him.
Very tempted to pull the running boards, rear fender, headlight and exhaust off Pokey and swap them onto Sam, today, with a quick respray of the rear fender assembly and headlight shell from orange-cream to solid black. I
truly despise the factory pegs and rear fender assembly, and since Pokey is inching closer to a trip to the metal shredder anyway...
