Riding yesterday with my hearing aids on I heard a noise that's in-sync with RPM's, really noticeable on a hard decel, and a burst of throttle in lower gears, but it appeared to be only in a certain RPM range.
I thought perhaps my windshield was causing it, as I saw a few spots where it had started to rub due to looseness of a bracket. I removed it, but it still has the noise.
I was worried it could be the valves/lifters but I get no noise from them when I put the bike on the stand and rev it, or at idle, wouldn't I get the noise constantly if that was it?

Any ideas?

Bike runs great.....just don't want to cause any damage if I can avoid it

Headlight rattles can be in synch with engine rpm....I thought I as losing my entire cam assembly it was so noisy.  Then one day I reached up and put my hand on the headlight and squeezed....and the noise went away!
