Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

My recommendation:

Don't ride behind a "custom built" Harley, where the builder's occupation is not building motorcycles.

The one time I went on a group ride (charity ride for a Veterans nursing home), I narrowly avoided getting a shower of transmission parts when the one "custom built" bike on the ride decided it didn't like its transmission anymore and blew it up.
