motor mount numbers and vibration????
07/06/14 at 11:09:13

I want to say great site for the bike. The info on here has help my transformation with my $600 purchase. I have ran into a problem with excessive vibration between 62-70mph or 4200-5000rpm. Checked all motor mounts. But I am confused which torque on each. For example the top 2 are frame and one is motor. Thru mounts front controls at 64.9 ft/lbs seems real tight. Could someone post a picture and label the torque for each? I know this is asking alot but it would help everyone. Also i did check torque list post it just made me scratch my head even more. Well, the top mounts are visible so I'm sure you got that...   I'm sorry,I don't know what else to do. Just hang out, someone will have something to add.

This is the way I interpret it.

ITEM                                                      N-m                          |      ft-lb
These are on top of the head - all 3
Engine  mounting No. 1 bolts and nuts      37.0      45.0      |      27.3      33.2

Footpegs
Engine  mounting No. 2 bolt                      70.0      88.0      |      51.6      64.9

thru frame
Engine  mounting No. 3 bolts and nuts      70.0      88.0      |      51.6      64.9

rear engine plate
Engine  mounting No. 4 bolt and nut      70.0      88.0      |      51.6      64.9

frame to rear engine plate
Engine mounting No. 5 Allen                  20.0      30.0      |      14.7      22.1

Basically, the smaller ones get 30 ft-lbs, the bigger get 60 ft-lbs, and the allens get 20 fl-lbs.

Oh. I did 64.9 on the top bolts and broke one then replaced and retorqued. Do you think this might add to the vibration issue since it is too tight? The top mount bolt that attaches the head was torqued probably around 50ft/lbs I was affraid ti break another and not to mention the aluminum casting. What do you think is the best option for me? Retorque the mounts all around?

leave it, damage done, it may break next time or not ever.
too tight will be better for vibration.
