I drove the bike until reserve kicked in then counted the miles

Drove 22 miles until I ran out of gas completely

Well, running out of fuel is no fun!  I just fill up every 100-miles to be on the safe side.

I was driving through town going mostly in the 50's

I let it run out and luckly as I ran out there was noone behind me on in front of me, I hit the clutch and coasted right into a gas station!

It was great

No Problem

Its nice to know that if you need it then thats what you can drag out of it

I punched it a few times when running on reserve so I know if I really needed to go another 20 miles to get somewhere then I would make it driving steady

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Good to know (although I did know) and thanks for conveniently placed gas stations.

Shocked

Grin

And yes, thank you for the scientific experiment. I've hit reserve both times I've needed gas, and did 4 miles to a truck stop, and 2 miles to Lyons, Ohio on today's little spin.

I always rode to reserve, switched, then hit the closest gas station in my high school daze decades ago. Maybe I ought to grow up and start doing the 100 mile fill-er-up.

I'd say this mimics my experience, although I haven't pushed it quite that far. The most I ever pushed it, I switched to reserve somewhere near the 100 mile mark, and pushed the reserve another 16 miles before I got too nervous and pulled into the closest gas station.
