Fixed oil plug leak...whats happening?
06/28/14 at 12:46:20

Hey everyone I have done the oil plug leak modification, and after finishing the work have taken the cycle down the road a few miles. I noticed this on the opposite of the engine when sitting at a red light...what have I missed? I don't want to disaaemble it twice and miss the same thing again...

Thanks everyone!!

Clean the head, run it and check for leaks.
If you still can't locate the leak I give you an alternate method.

I can't see any direct leak, but its clearly coming from the right side of the engine, and not from any visible part of the head cover. It appears to be coming from inside that hole that I can't really see into, anything would beat taking this a part again...

The leak appears to have been coming from the bottom L60 bolt/bolt hole. Any ideas why that would be leaking, there appeared to be adequate red rtv silicone gasket in place surrounding the entire bolt...but it was the only bolt that had a very wet set of threads when removing the head cover the second time.

My statement on the source of the leak is speculation. I am perplexed as to where all the oil could have been coming from...any help/ideas are appreciated.

One relatively easy thing to try is to relieve and re-torque the bolts on the head cover. That worked for me once. Failed for me about two or three times.

I once had a leak on that side - it was coming out from the bottom of the cam plug (yet another rubber plug). Resealled the plug all the way around fixed the leak. It was obvious that the oil was coming from there - it would weap around the very top head fin.
