Huh

...... and guess what happens like a year after that divestment happens .....

Seriously, Barnes and Noble was always reacting to Amazon's moves, but like part of a year behind at best.

The third year in, the Barnes and Noble NOOK tablet was not really even up to snuff as a then current cheap tablet, much less as a premium services provider type machine.

Now, having been clued by the main office as to what their end game is to be, I would simply avoid buying a NOOK totally in the future as the "premium services" are going to get real iffy as Barnes and Noble brand begins their slow fold up to much fewer & lots smaller brick and mortar stores situated only in malls, etc.

I am an amazon prime member...it just went up to $99 this year. To me its worth it though...I read a lot and watch about 4 movies a month. So it actually does pay for itself, I suppose I could do the "red machines" at the stores, but I would be without my free "prime" book choices.

Bought a, ’NOOK”, about 6 years ago.
Turned OFF, the, ‘Wi-Fi”.
Went to the Net, downloaded ‘free’ books.
On my computer, Then, load them from the computer to the Nook.
(Their are about 3 MILLION, where the Copyright has expired, All ‘Classics’).

Also, if you have a Local Library card. (If not get one, it’s free),
You can check out library E-books, just like when you go to the Library.
(Here it is 3 books at one time) And their is a 2 week, ‘check out’.
BUT, because I down load them on the computer, then load them on the Nook.
And because I am NOT connected, to the internet on the Nook..
They, Stay, on the Nook, Until I connect the Nook to the computer,
Then if overdue, they are ‘returned’.

So If it takes more than 2 weeks to read 3 books, fine.
I could take 3 months to read them, as long as I don’t connect to the computer/internet.

Takes a little more time to do.
But the 100 + books I have on that little thing, are all, FREE.

I  have the ‘cheep’ one, No backlight. But not problems reading it,
as long as their is some light to see the screen.

Which is More TRUE, today, than yesterday.('06, S-40, Stock) well, mostly .
