I commute into Memphis 5 days a week on a 2003 Savage. Once I uncorked the exhaust it is capable of running freeway speeds (80+) without issues other than the mirrors being complete garbage.

Wider bars, more oil in the front forks, Progressive rear shocks set on mid range, Memphis Shades Big Shot windshield.

Next up, Gran Turismo grips (from Ryca), Kawasaki Z1-900 replica mirrors (from Z1 Enterprises)... and a new rear tire. Our roads suck.

For real super slab use I have my eyes on either a Kawasaki VN1500 Drifter or a Suzuki C90T/C90T Boss.

Thanks for all your responses.  Although a subjective question, there was consistency in all of your answers.  Helps a lot.  The Savage is a great bike, and there is no other like it.

Thanks,
