It doesn't matter whether you baby the engine or not. Normal where will leave a ridge at the top of the cylinder. If you get to much play in the wrist pin or crank bearing the piston comes up and the ring hits the ridge and snaps. In a car engine where the piston is removed or installed from the top, you need to use a cylinder "ridge reamer" so you don't break the rings.

Not sure what part of NH you are from but ask around about a good automotive machine shop. Apparently the one I use to use a lot in Manchester is no longer there.

Hello gents! Alas my girl is still driving me crazy! After the rebuild she ran well however it does not charge properly. It caused great anger and frustration to me so I have not touched the bike in a year. After 15 rides on her after all of the work start to finish it only made 3 successful rides. I just don't know if I will fix her or just throw in The towel on it. Terribly sorry for disappearing like that! I am still alive! Haha hopefully you are all well and on two wheels unlike myself.
