Will idle/run after sitting, but then dies

I can't figure out why this isn't working. I just epoxied the inside of my gas tank with stuff we make at work that holds up just fine to gas/eth. Got a raptor petcock and hooked everything up and filled it with new gas and it'll idle perfect for however long, but then if you start riding it'll be fine then imitate being out of gas (ask me how I know).

If you let it sit again it'll repeat the cycle.

I'd pull the bowl and peak to see if it's still engaged with the floats... ...

Took the carb off. Pulled the bowl and the diaphramg head?

The float was smooth and good. Sprayed carb cleaner through all the holes I could find. the pilot and main jets were cleaned. Some gunk fell out of the choke area.

I'm still not sure why this is happening. I put everything back together and took it around the block. It ran really smooth for about 5-8 minutes then started doing its things. WIth your hand on the throttle it would die then sputter trying to run and repeat the process until it completely died. If I waited about 2-5 minutes and cranked it back up it runs fine, then does it over again.

Still sounds like the float needle...
You still need to check it...
Look at the floats... move them up and down... you'll see a tiny brass bullet that goes up and down with them.... it is above them, in the center, and it goes into a hole up there...
That' is what allows or prevents fuel from coming in...
Make sure it's going up and down...
It should be attached to a little brass tab in between the floats... with a paper clip looking thing...
You can see the paper clip in this pic... (not where the arrow is pointing, but about an inch above it...)...

It doesn't take much for them to slip or crack, causing a vacuum leak that will drive you insane with rage.

Sounds like a "vapor lock". Due to no venting. Gas cap is most likely but use of "epoxy stuff from work" makes me suspect on something that used to be open is now blocked.

And the 2 vent lines for the bowl are venting too.

Pretty sure you got a fuel delivery problem.
Start from the top and work your way down.
with a full tank of gas, how long does it take to drain a qt. from the petcock? and from the carb?

to get full flow from the carb, you might have to take the bowl off.
if you have a drain nipple, don't think that's large enough to get full flow.

and another spot for garbage to collect is the float valve seat. There's a little screen on top of that. take that out and remove any dead fish you find.

Versy, wouldnt the bowl drain provide enough flow to equal any flow the engine could be using? If he opens that & the flow rate is good & stays constant, wouldnt that prove flow to the carb is sufficient?
Stays Constant being the operative thing,,
It should ( the bowl) be full when he opens the drain,, It should come on down real good, if it slows, then that would indicate a flow issue right away,, The epoxy thing has my attention, too,,

I don't have a bowl w/a drain nipple, mine do not have a nipple, just a bolt hole which I have no doubt will flow out as good as it flows in.
So I can not be sure one way or another.
but my feeling is, it is not the same size as the inlet.
Therefore, it will not drain as fast as it comes in.
It maybe sloppy, but since I want to know flow rate at each stage, it's necessary.

Did you etch the tank before you epoxied it? I know some of the epoxies from Eastwood were peeling and causing havoc when they weren't applied properly.
