Thanks for the advice all ! I do enjoy the experience on the S-40, that most of you have over, my experience, with the same.
I took the plunge, Have a set of Dunlop 440's. ordered. 100/90-19, and 130/90-15. Decided on the 130 vs the 140's, because, the original tires on it are, 5.37 wide, and the Dunlop, 140's were 5.85 wide.
Also, a 'little' narrower tire, 'should', give better, slow, quick turning, ability. Also putting on a 130 on a 140 rim, should be about 1/8" taller, in a 90 vs a 80. And should have plenty of clearance. (According to my measurements) And of course if the Speado is not true, one can just remember the difference. (If not: The good thing about dementia is: 'You can wrap your OWN Christmas/Birthday presents')
In my search, for people who are new to this ride, and new to MC's. (As the Excellent advice from this forum) Tires by brand, are NOT, all, the same size. ((((EVEN, if their numbers say the same.))))
And if a 'tire' ordering place, will Not give you the measurements, as to the, "Manufactures Stated Specifications", as to the Actual, Inflated Sizes'. (If of course, by experience, you don't know) Go Else where.
In 5, internet places, 4 could not answer questions. One did. M.C. Superstore.
In fact one 'local', (I DO Like to give Local business, 'when I can'.) Tired to sell me a, 'set of tires' for 'real good deal', and when I looked at the date code. They were made in 2000.
Cheese & Rice, 14 years Old !!!!!!!!! I was born at night, but not LAST NIGHT!
Here is a suggestion, (for the people that don't just, 'know', from experience). When buying tires, if the tires are running just fine, but have lost their tread, or are to old, and you want new. MEASURE, what is is on their NOW. What is working, NOW.
Measure the side wall, (Thickness) and measure how high. If you don't have the tools. Just take a clamp, close it to just touch the sides, and measure with a tape or ruler. The higth, just take a tape, and measure from the 'center', of the axle, to the furthest point, of the tread, and X by 2.
Then when you order, ASK, what the dementions are, as to the factory specks are. If they give you a bunch of, "Oh It doesn't matter" Go Elsewhere.
Gee, knia like buying Pants or dresses for the wife/girlfriend. Each Store/Brand/Style, had a TOTALLY Different view/opinion, of what a, Size 6 is !!!!!!!!! Of course, if you are stripping the S-40/LS650 down. And building something else from it. all bets are off. ANY tire that fits the rim will work, Just get ready to modify other things, to get them to work.
Again. Great site. Great accumulated knowledge.
Thanks !
